My favorite yoga and meditation tools for beginners

You absolutely do not need anything in order to meditate. It can be done anytime, anywhere. But, I do find that a few things are helpful for me. Here are my fave meditation helpers. It'll be a short list because, you really don't need a lot.

Gaiam Reversible Yoga Mat

I don't have this exact one, but I love the durability of Gaiam yoga mats so I am recommending the hell out of this. The reason I don't have THIS one is because the one I bought 8 years ago is still going strong!

White Sage Sticks

White sage is perfect for clearing any space of negative energy and creating a calm and soothing environment for diving deep into your consciousness (or beyond it). Even if you don't believe in their mystical properties, I've met few people who didn't find he scent relaxing.

Tying a scent to your meditation practice, whether it's sage, palo santo, or an essential oil, will help your brain get into the right mind space much faster. After all, scent is the sense most tied to memory.

Palo Santo Sticks

Not a fan of the scent of white sage, or just looking for something different? Palo Santo is my other go-to when I'm setting the right vibe for a meditation session. To be honest, I tend to burn these in my house almost every day. The calming scent really helps me focus (and as someone with ADHD that is very important).

That's it, really. The rest is all in the mind.

Find a quiet, comfortable space.

Turn on meditation music if you like. Here's a link to my favorite Spotify playlist for meditation.

And work on letting go.

Bit by bit.

Moment by moment.
