She heard the call - A poem by Amy-Lynn Denham

A little poem inspired by my favourite images from the first photoshoot I ever did as a photographer.

It was quarter past midnight
when she first heard
the call to the land -

The call to the forest
the grass and the sand.

It was quarter past midnight
when she first
took the hand

that would lead her to rest
that would lead to the end.

It called to her heart
to her mind
and her soul.

It beckoned beyond
all she could control -

A call to let go.

So she reached out her hand.

She surrendered her power
and found within it much more -

A strength to survive
a need to explore.

She opened the door.
